More than 120 Olympic-related personnel test positive for new coronavirus

According to Japanese media reports, the Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee confirmed at a press conference on the morning of the 24th that another 17 Olympic-related personnel tested positive for the new crown virus. One of them was an athlete who entered the country from overseas and lived in the Olympic Village. According to data released by the Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee on the morning of the 24th, since the 1st of this month, 123 Olympic-related personnel have tested positive for the new crown virus.

However, some Japanese media updated this number to 127 in a report on the evening of the 24th. Based on relevant reports, the four newly-infected people should be police officers responsible for guarding competition venues in Tokyo.

In addition, according to the “Epidemic Prevention Manual” of this Olympic Games, contestants should be tested for the new crown virus every day. However, according to Japanese media reports on the 24th, the Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee admitted on the same day that due to insufficient testing tools, some players did not receive daily routine testing. The Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee emphasized on the 24th that they have purchased a large number of testing reagents and will ensure that all players can receive virus tests every day as required.
